Henrik Bresman
Professor. Author. Advisor on leadership.
Henrik Bresman is a management professor at INSEAD. For more than two decades, he has studied how teams and organizations perform in exponentially changing environments.
His work explores how leadership is distributed, how psychological safety enables learning and performance, and how teams engage across boundaries to generate insight and adapt. The focus is not on leadership as position, but on leadership as a shared organizational capability.
This page offers a closer look at his research, teaching, and the practical tools that translate these ideas into action.
Research
Henrik’s research examines how to design and lead organizations for wealth and wellbeing, with a particular focus on teams, when conditions are uncertain, fast-moving, and socially complex.
Drawing on fieldwork and experiments across industries such as biotechnology, aerospace, software development, and healthcare, his work explains how leadership, coordination, and learning actually unfold under pressure.
This work also reaches audiences beyond academia. His research has been published in leading practitioner journals, including Harvard Business Review and MIT Sloan Management Review, and featured in major media outlets such as The Economist, Financial Times, and The Wall Street Journal, where it informs debates on leadership and teamwork during periods of transformation and organizational strain.
